Presenter FAQ

If you are interested in presenting at LIMMUD NZ then please read the FAQ’s below. If you would like any further information then please contact us.

LIMMUD NZ brings together people from all over the New Zealand Jewish community. While the event itself is being held in both Auckland and Wellington, we work to include and encourage participants from around the country.

After reading the following information, complete this form. If your session is accepted, you agree to register for the conference.

Multiple one-hour sessions are offered simultaneously throughout the day. Presenters are also participants and need to register for the conference. As a presenter you are also a participant and are encouraged to attend other sessions.

You can decide – it just needs to have a Jewish link. LIMMUD works best if people speak about what they are passionate about. In thinking of a topic, consider our LIMMUD values

Most of our local presenters lead only one session, in order to enable as many people as possible to speak. You may wish to submit more than one idea, in case your first topic is already being covered. It is possible that your session may not be approved for inclusion in this year’s conference due to our efforts to maintain diversity and balance in our topics, presenters, and the timing of our sessions. We will let you know if your session proposal has been accepted as soon as possible.

No, we do not need to see your whole session plan. However you need to provide a topic title and brief description as part of your presenter submission process. We ask that you consider the diversity of the audience, which includes Jews across the religious, political, ethnic and educational spectrum. Limmud attracts participants of all ages. Let us know if your session is particularly appropriate for teens, families or young adults.

We will need a very brief (4 or 5 line) biography as part of the submission process. Later on we will ask you about your technical requirements.

Sorry, no. We try very hard to maintain diversity and balance in our topics, presenters and the timing of our sessions, so we cannot guarantee a time slot to anyone in advance. However if you have real constraints please advise us, and we will do our best to accommodate them. Once the schedule is finalized, we will let you know when you will present your session.

Yes, except for sessions scheduled on Shabbat which need to be Shabbat-friendly (no technology, no writing or instruments etc). If your session is Shabbat-friendly, please advise us as it makes scheduling easier. Please note that internet access is not guaranteed, so if you want to use something off the internet we advise that you download it first.

Yes. One of the principles of LIMMUD NZ, like other Limmuds worldwide, is that we are all participants and all volunteers. Many people give considerable amounts of time to LIMMUD (whether presenting, organizing, cooking, cleaning up etc etc), and we all pay to attend. LIMMUD NZ, like other Limmud conferences worldwide, is volunteer-run and volunteer-driven. Special arrangements can be made for people who cannot afford to attend – please contact our team.

If you have questions about presenting, please contact our Programming Team.

Great! Simply click on the button below and complete the online form and we’ll be in touch soon. We look forward to receiving your expression of interest.

LIMMUD PRINCIPLE: Community and mutual responsibility

We strive to create community – together we can achieve more than as individuals.
