We are incredibly excited to be able to announce that Dr Ruth Calderon, MK, is going to be presenting at LIMMUD NZ 2013!
Ruth Calderon is an Israeli academic (with a PhD in Talmud)-turned- politician. Until recently she was best-known as the founder of ALMA, the “Secular Yeshiva” which seeks to make Jewish culture & Torah learning available to secular Israelis. After her election to the Knesset in 2013 for the Yesh Atid party, she turned her maiden speech – complete with Talmud lesson – into a YouTube sensation with over 150,000 hits. Its focus on the need for mutual understanding and respect between the different (and often opposing) sectors of Israeli society has hit a chord both within Israel and outside it. Don’t miss Ruth Calderon at LIMMUD NZ 2013 – she is here for Saturday 10 August only.
Dr Ruth Calderon is being brought to New Zealand with the support of the Raye Freedman Trust.
